A new year

I want to apologize for not posting in such a long time, I have been dealing with a major case of writers block and even though I have a back log of music I have reviewed and want to post, I have become discouraged from updating this blog as of late.  Yet it is now 2018 and I have decided I want to take this more seriously.

I have listened to a lot of good music in 2017 and I regret not updating more recently so I thought I’d kick off the new year with a few links and some pellet reviews.  I am also going to change the scope of the blog a bit and begin to interview and review more and more local artists I meet and watch perform live at venues in or around Jacksonville, Florida.  #ProjectJax will feature music from all over Florida and I’ll link bandcamp pages and soundcloud pages instead of the usual youtube video.  I have already a backlog of artists I have seen recently and I am familiar with a few venues who inform me when cool acts come to town so I plan on updating more frequently with music I want the world to know more about.

Linked below is 2017 year end list of top fifty albums curated by NPR music, a resource I often use to find new music.  I highly recommend you read this article and check out the albums listed, I have listened to most of the bands listed but not all of them, and while my list is different, check theirs out.

My top five albums of 2017 are in no particular order Lorde’s – Melodrama, Neck Deep’s – the peace and the panic, Kendrick Lamar – DAMN, The National – Sleep Well Beast, and finally Meatwave – The Incessant.  I’ll post longer updates with full reviews of all five of these albums and describe why I think they are so great and should be listened to along with cuts from the album demonstrating some of the best singles or deep cuts of the 2017.

2018 is looking to be a good year for music and I can’t wait to share with you guys some of my new updates.  I plan on attending a lot more live shows this year and as always sharing with you all a taste of what Jacksonville Florida has to offer.
